CREATIVE ASHTRAYS

CREATIVE ASHTRAYS
Don’t Give-up Giving Up

This article is definitely useful for all the lazy smokers and smokers who don’t see why they should spend money on buying a pricy Ash-tray !

My friend fraternity is a exclusive union of engineers (The country believes that these people are ingeniously creative). Of them, a good subset (Cardinal number > 50 % of them smoke cigarettes and the likes…). Each element of the subset (I am referring to each individual) has a creative way to design their own ashtrays from scratch and most importantly the scrap they could gather in their rooms. I will show and detail a couple of designs in this blog.

Assumptions:

  1. The elements of the subset are lazy

  2. There exists a belief that these designers are creative.

  3. They always have the prime objective to minimize the cost of the ashtray (In this case 0 == Zero )

  4. Laziness quotient (LQ) varies between 5 and 10 (On a scale of 10)

Design Criteria:

  1. The ashtray should have threshold capacity to hold more than 50 cigarette butts and their corresponding ash generated from the cigs.

  2. The ashtray should be designed such that the whole ashtray should not set ablaze. Meaning, it should have a fool-proof mechanism to put-off the cigarette at the end of the smoke. (This criterion is important because I have had more than a couple of experiences when I set my room on fire because I had a plastic box as an ashtray which burnt right under my ass. I mean the chair which I sit on)

Design 1: CYBER Tray (LQ 5-7)

Material required: A blank CD, A plastic 10 pack CD Box-Cover (Top part of the box)
Cost: 9 Rupees only !!

Design Procedure: Take the CD (I used my ETS GRE CD) and place it in the 10 pack CD Box cover. You are done. Your ashtray is ready. This is what it should look like

{Image coming up soon}

Working: It peacefully has a capacity of more than 50 cigs and the Metal bottom of the CD provides a fool proof and flame proof way to put of the cigarette.

Conclusion: Enjoy the lazy ass-burn free smoking !!

Design 2: CUP & STICK Tray (LQ 5-7)

Material required: An empty Ice tea cup, the stick left out after thulping a mini-chocobar
Cost: 0 Rupees only!!

Design Procedure: Take the stick and drop it in the paper cup. You are done. Your ashtray is ready. This is what it should look like

{Image coming up soon}

Working: It peacefully has a capacity of more than 50 cigs and one has to use the stick (wood – Bad conductor FIRE) to put the cig off.

Conclusion: Enjoy the Zero cost of this product. Its absolutely dirt cheap to make one. All you have to do is eat a chocobar and drink and ice-tea, ofcourse smoke cigs too!!

Design 3: TEMP Tray (LQ 8-9)

Material required: An empty cigarette box

Design Procedure: It’s already designed for you. You just have to have one.

Working: It totally violates the capacity constraint. Still its good if you are sitting in an open air coffee-house and can’t find a ashtray because they didn’t care to provide one and to top it all if you want to creatively escape the security guard watching curiously over you to see where you are gonna throw the cig off in the shrubs nearby, This is your solution. You can temporarily use the empty cig box in situation like the above.

Initially

Worst case scenario -After Use !!

Conclusion: The security guard…He just got "A BURN" !!

Design 4: The ULTIMATE Tray (LQ 10)

Material required: A place to live.

Design Procedure: Refer IS codes for constructing it. (Indian Standard Codes. Normally used to design buildings)
THE ASHFLOOR Before USE

After The Transformation

Room No: 337 The ASH SILL of the ASH FLOOR

Working: It has a capacity of nearly a GOOGOL cigs. This is especially as you can see for people with a LQ of 10. The ULTIMATE ASH FLOOR !! Infact, it can serve as an ash-tray for the whole wing of smoke-mates if any one is living in a hostel just like me. Room no 337 (Ass’s room) was our official ASH-FLOOR.

Conclusion: Refer to the picture above.

My Preferences over the years and the evolution process:

I started using a FOX Candy tin box in the incipient stages of my cig-life, when finally it got stolen my some monkeys. Then I used Cup and stick Design for a year. Currently I am using the Cyber Tray (I got a software job after-all and Yah I cupped bigtime in GRE).

My First ASHTRAY

Here are a few interesting stuff I found when I typed “Marlboro” in Google.

Looks Suede
